Overview

Dr. Goerdel is an Associate Professor of Public Administration and the assistant managing editor of the Journal of Homeland Security & Emergency Management. Her research focuses on the contribution of public management to organizational performance, as well as the perceived and actual value of collaboration in interdisciplinary problem solving in the public sector. She has applied both quantitative and qualitative research approaches to confront timely questions of interest to managers, policymakers, and the public in domains of public education, public health, homeland security governance, terrorism intelligence and information sharing, cybersecurity, and war contracting. Her most recent work focuses on managing accountability in war contracting. Her research has been competitively funded by internal and external sources, and has been published in the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Public Administration Review, and Public Performance & Management Review.
